This dress is a project for art school. The inspiration for this dress came from Victorian fashion, to be more precise the corset. I wanted to make a 'modern' corset, something that is suitable for this time. So I made this dress that does not force you to sit up right, but because of a piece of rubber inserted in the front and back, you get a supported a little bit. But what this garment most of all does is notify you when your not sitting correctly.
To make a link to where the idea came from, I made the shoulder pieces. Those where inspired by crinolines and the typical neck line of Victorian evening dresses. They also bring out the material, because I found that the rubber material was very interesting and fun to work with.
